The final day of the 2008 SCION NYBB Pro Presented by Verizon Wireless was nothing short of an amazing event. Mother Nature was the events best friend today as tropical storm Hana had moved off the coast of NY providing swell and offshore/cross shore winds for the first round of the Men's Pro.

Jenks Pro 2008 Final Press Release

The 2008 SCION Jenks Pro presented by Verizon Wireless was a huge success today with its final day held at Seaside heights Jenkinson's Casino Pier. The event was run in front of a 7,000 person crowd lining the beach.

The early rounds saw big names bow out of the event with Willy Petrovick (Big Island HI) being taken out by Ruben Sanchez (Puerto Rico) and Jason Bitzer (NJ) in the first round. Also Drew Erichson was knocked out by a .5 count back in his quarter final which set the tone for interesting semi final rounds with new faces in each heat.

Day 1: THE 2008 SCION JENKINSON'S PRO

The first day of the SCION JENKS PRO went off with only one hitch. This being that the swell was missing Jenkinson's Beach and heading down to the events alternate location in Seaside heights. Seaside Pier which is part of the Jenkinson's Beach properties was providing a 2-4 ft face swell for the young USBA riders to tear apart.

Day two of the Sport Chalet IB regional tour began with a stellar performance. Starting off was the "Sling For Bling" tow assistance event. Competitors in 4ft plus clean Imperial Beach surf, were busting massive moves. Jeff Hubbard had a great energy in the water and really went for big on each attempt. The crowd on site and also on the web seemed to be elated to see Jeff pushing the sport as he always does. As for that reason, he was rewarded the winning vote from the judges as the winner of the event. A big first time performance went down with David Phillips coming from Kaui pulling out with a huge air reverse, fully completed rotation, and cleanly landed an air reverse! Spencer Skipper was not on his game as he had a final pro event on his mind coming up later that day.
